Folk music with factoids! Long-running folkgroup Taylor Project combine weirdly wonderful research with harmonies andhumour. The band is built around inquisitive twin sisters Liz and Sarah Taylor, who appreciate both the funny and dark sides of folk music, and “press nerdbuttons with infectious enthusiasm" (The Age, 2025). They haveperformed and recorded music since 2008, with a distinctive songwriting stylethat blends original research, anecdotes, and rich musical arrangementsincluding violin, harmonies, piano and mandolin. As well as hundreds of gigs inMelbourne bars and pubs, Taylor Project have performed at festivals such asBendigo Blues and Roots Festival, the Maldon Folk Festival, Tarwin LowerFestival, the Guildford Banjo Jamboree, and the Renaissance Festival. In 2025they wrote and performed the musical Midland Highway Revisited “withcomic charm and attention to detail” (The Age 2025). In July 2026 theyperformed at the Wild Geese for the first time, as part of the successful Songs& Stories of the Local, Lost and Found event for the Shiel StreetPress.
